Darkroom & Photographic Lab
Workspace for Film Development & Darkroom Printing
The workspace includes two dedicated areas a film development room and a darkroom printing room. Together they support the full photographic process, from developing negatives to producing final prints.
The workspace is designed for independent practice. Access to each area begins with an introductory workshop, providing the knowledge and confidence needed to work independently.
Film Developing Room
Film development is the stage where the latent image becomes visible for the first time. More than a technical process, it is a meaningful moment in which the photograph begins to take shape.
Exposure, chemistry, and time work together, each leaving its mark on the material.
Working independently creates a direct connection between the moment an image was made and the way it emerges in development.
Understanding and controlling the process allows for conscious decisions regarding exposure, contrast, tonal range, and density—not simply receiving a result, but actively shaping it.
Through repetition, experimentation, and observation, a deeper understanding of the negative develops, forming the foundation of a personal photographic language.
This is a space for learning through practice, exploration, and the development of an independent working process.
Darkroom Printing Room
Darkroom printing is the stage where the negative is translated into a photographic print.
Working with light, exposure time, paper, and chemistry, each print becomes an interpretation of the negative rather than a direct reproduction.
Every print is unique. The image passes through the negative, but the hand of the printer shapes the final result.
The darkroom is open not only to photographers, but to anyone interested in working with images, materials, and physical processes.
Negative-Free
A space for transforming images into a personal visual language through an ongoing process of experimentation and making.
Access to each room begins with an introductory workshop, providing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to work independently in the space.
